Extraskeletal osteosarcoma in the back

چکیده
A 41-year-old woman visited our plastic surgeon with complaints of a progressively enlarged lower backmass for months. The mass had become very tender recently. Her physical examination demonstrated a round, movable, solid mass over the lower back, about 8 cm 7 cm at its largest diameter (Fig. 1A). The tumor was excised and the mass had no attachment to bone or periosteum. The specimen included a grayish white calcified tumor and a 9 cm 6-cm piece of attached skin (Fig.1B). On histological section, the tumor showed a central 3 cm 1.5 cm 1.5 cm polycystic space

Extraskeletal Ewing’s Sarcoma of Neck in a Child- A Case Report
Introduction: Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is an extremely rare bone malignancy observed in otorhinolaryngeal practice. In otorhinolaryngology, it sometimes involves the facial bones and cervical vertebrae. In children, ES is the second most common primary malignancy of bone after osteosarcoma. Extraskeletal Ewing’s sarcoma (EES) is an extremely rare malignancy of mesenchymal cell origin. The EES...
متن کاملWell-differentiated extraskeletal osteosarcoma. A soft-tissue homologue of parosteal osteosarcoma.
We describe a unique case of a low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma revealing both histologic and radiologic features reminiscent of parosteal osteosarcoma. The tumor, which had been present for 10 years, occurred in the left axilla of a 74-year-old black woman. To date, all the published cases of extraskeletal osteosarcoma have been high-grade neoplasms; to our knowledge, this is the first rep...

To cite: Bots EMT, Wismans PJ, Slobbe L. Thorax 2016;71:96. A 63year-old Caucasian man who smoked presented with lower back pain, dyspnoea and weight loss. A chest CT showed multiple bilateral cavitating lesions, consolidations and ground glass lesions (figure 1). Because a CT-guided pulmonary biopsy elsewhere revealed chronic inflammation with caseating granulomas, he had initially been treate...
متن کاملWell-Differentiated Extraskeletal Osteosarcoma Arising from the Retroperitoneum That Recurred as Anaplastic Spindle Cell Sarcoma
Extraskeletal osteosarcoma is an uncommon high-grade malignant soft tissue sarcoma. Well-differentiated extraskeletal osteosarcoma is thought to have a better prognosis than classical extraskeletal osteosarcoma, but dedifferentiation after recurrence has also been reported. We present a case of a primary retroperitoneal extraskeletal osteosarcoma in a 62-year-old Japanese woman. Abdominal CT re...
متن کاملCanine extraskeletal osteosarcoma and chondrosarcoma: a clinicopathologic study of 14 cases.
Canine extraskeletal osteosarcomas are extremely rare tumors. Over a period of 25 years at the Animal Medical Center, approximately 1,000 cases of skeletal osteosarcomas have been diagnosed. During the same period 11 cases of extraskeletal osteosarcomas and three extraskeletal chondrosarcomas were diagnosed. Tumors of the mammary gland were excluded. Extraskeletal osteosarcomas were found in th...
متن کاملLow-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma of the mediastinum: report of a case and review of literature.
Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma, typically characterized by a bone-producing neoplasm. Low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma (LGESOS) is an extremely rare soft tissue tumor, and patients with LGESOS tend to have a better prognosis. Here, we reported a case of LGESOS of the mediastinum with lung metastasis, and describe its clinical, pathological and radiological f...
